This beautiful piece of north woods bone held the world title for many years. A man riding a train in Itasca County, Minnesota in the early spring of 1951, spotted a running deer who had just dropped his antler. Even from a distance, the man could tell it was a large antler. He quickly jumped off the train and ran to pick it up, knowing he would have to walk the mile back to the station. The Carter shed is known not only for its record breaking size, but for its exceptionally rich deer color.
