Ed Stockwell Coues Buck

Item: 4133 Categories: ,

In 1958, Ed Stockwell and his companion were headed back to camp after traversing through the Santa Rita Mountains of southern Arizona.  His friend decided to take a lower route back, while Ed choose a more rugged and higher route.  It provided to be a great decision, as he spooked a massive Coues deer, with the heaviest antlers on a Coues deer he had ever seen.  A 60 yard shot with his Savage .300, dropped the buck where he stood.  Later, the Boone and Crockett agreed that it was the largest Coues deer ever harvested, and it still holds the title, over 7 decades later.
