Randy Hacker Buck

Passionate outdoorsman, Randy Hacker was boating with a friend in November 1990, on their way to their favorite duck hunting spot. This part of Cass County,  Illinois  was known for producing big bucks, and he was on the look out not only for ducks, but for a huge buck he had spotted a few days before along the steep river bank.  Suddenly, both hunters spotted what looked like a deer hoof sticking out of the water.  Going over to investigate, they tugged on the hoof, but couldn’t get it to budge.  Smart thinking, soon had them tying a rope to the leg and throttling the boat forward.  Up from the depths, came not one, but TWO big bucks, with antlers tangled together!  It was the same giant Randy had spotted earlier, and a smaller buck still locked in battle!  It was surmised that while fighting for breeding rights, they had tumbled down the steep embankment into the water and unable to free themselves, they both had drowned. After some conversations with the game wardens, Randy was allowed to keep the larger buck.  The scores tell the rest of the story of this bruiser! The inside spread is an outstanding 25″, with the outside spread at 28″.  The brow tines are exceptional long at 10 6/8″ and 10 2/8″, as are the G2’s at 14 5/8″ and 13 5/8″, and G3’s at 11 1/8″ and 10 6/8″.  Not only is this buck, tall and wide, is has mass as well, with base measurements of 8 2/8″ and 7 4/8″
